Heri, a spokesperson for the Aceh independence movement, has called on Aceh’s ulama and wider community to unite in pursuing a more prosperous, dignified and just future for the province.
Heri said greater unity among Aceh’s communities was essential to addressing the social and economic challenges facing the province, while urging people to place the welfare and future of Aceh above political and social differences.
“Ulama and the people must stand together. Differences must not divide us. We must work together for the future of our people and strive for greater prosperity throughout Aceh,” Heri said.
He said the ulama had an important role in providing moral guidance and leadership within Acehnese society, while the wider community remained central to the social and economic development of the province.
Heri stressed that unity did not require everyone to hold the same political views. Differences of opinion, he said, should instead be addressed through dialogue, mutual respect and peaceful engagement.
He also called on community leaders, young people, women, farmers, fishermen, workers, academics and other sections of Acehnese society to strengthen solidarity and cooperation.
According to Heri, the pursuit of prosperity must result in tangible improvements to people’s lives, including access to quality education, decent employment, stronger local economies, improved infrastructure and greater economic opportunities.
“We should not merely talk about Aceh’s future. We must work together to build it. Our people need quality education, decent jobs, economic opportunities and a dignified standard of living,” he said.
Heri further emphasised that efforts to advance the interests of the people should be pursued peacefully, responsibly and with full respect for human dignity and public safety.
He said he hoped the ulama and wider community could help strengthen social cohesion across Aceh and encourage constructive initiatives focused on improving people’s welfare.
“Aceh’s future cannot be built by one group alone. It requires the participation of all our people. If we want a better Aceh, we must move forward together.
Ulama and the people must stand together. The people must remain united, and prosperity must be our shared goal. Aceh must prosper,” Heri said.
