The Aceh Regional Board of the Indonesian Private Higher Education Association (APTISI Aceh) distributed humanitarian aid to residents affected by flash floods in Peusangan Siblah Krueng District, Bireuen Regency, on Thursday, 29 January 2026.
The aid distribution was focused in Gampong Kubu, one of the areas most severely affected by the flooding. This humanitarian initiative reflects APTISI Aceh’s genuine concern for communities struck by disaster, while also demonstrating the social responsibility of private higher education institutions in Aceh.
The humanitarian mission was led directly by the Chairman of APTISI Aceh, Prof. Bansu, accompanied by the Vice Chairman of APTISI Aceh, Prof. Yahya, the Secretary of APTISI Aceh, Dr. Muslim, and APTISI Aceh member Asri, SP, MP. Also present were the Rector of Almuslim University, Dr. Marwan, M.Pd, the Vice Rector III of Almuslim University, Dr. drh. Zulfikar, M.Si, along with several lecturers and alumni of Almuslim University.
The APTISI Aceh Flood and Landslide Response Team had to undertake a challenging journey to reach the affected area. Road access to Gampong Kubu remains poorly organised and dusty, with evacuation tents and public kitchens still in operation. To date, many residents have been unable to return to their homes due to the severe damage caused by the flash floods.
In his statement, Prof. Bansu explained that the initiative represents APTISI’s moral responsibility as an association representing private higher education institutions across Aceh in responding to social and humanitarian challenges.
“Despite the difficult terrain and the long distance travelled, our commitment to assisting the community remains our top priority. This is a tangible expression of APTISI’s concern for the people of Aceh,” he said.
The aid distributed included prayer mats, mukena (women’s prayer garments), sarongs, and carpet mats, which were handed directly to affected residents. Although the assistance could not yet fully meet all needs, APTISI Aceh hopes it will help ease the burden faced by communities during this difficult period.
Meanwhile, the Rector of Almuslim University, Dr. Marwan, M.Pd, as a member of APTISI Aceh, expressed his appreciation and gratitude to the leadership and members of APTISI Aceh.
“We extend our sincere thanks for the care and presence of APTISI Aceh in our region. We hope this assistance will help alleviate the hardship experienced by affected residents, while also strengthening the values of compassion, solidarity, and community service as part of the implementation of the Tri Dharma of Higher Education,” he said.
