Three students from the Business Administration Programme, Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP), Universitas Almuslim (Umuslim), Aceh, have proudly represented Indonesia at the prestigious 5th International Conference on Economics, Management, and Accounting (ICEMAC) 2025, held at The University of Aizu, Fukushima, Japan, from 22 to 26 April 2025.
The three students—Amelia, Devi Fitria, and Nisa—were officially appointed as FISIP Umuslim delegates after a rigorous internal and external selection process. On 22 April 2025, they participated in a scientific presentation session attended by academics and researchers from across the globe. Their research presentations received wide acclaim for both the quality of content and the professionalism of their delivery.
The titles of their respective papers were:
Amelia: Financial Ratio Analysis of the Lhokseumawe City Regional Revenue and Expenditure Budget (APBD) to Assess the Financial Performance
Devi Fitria: The Impact of the Implementation of the Government Internal Control System (GICS) on the Quality of Local Government Financial Reporting and Its Impact on the Principles of Good Governance in Lhokseumawe City Regency Government
Nisa: Human Resource Competencies and the Role of Internal Audit as Determining Factors of the Quality of Financial Reports of Lhokseumawe City Regional Government
These topics were considered highly relevant in the global context, particularly concerning local financial transparency, governance practices, and human resource-based economic development. Their presence reflected the active role of Aceh’s younger generation in responding to globalisation challenges through scholarly and solution-oriented approaches.
As a gesture of academic diplomacy, the FISIP Umuslim student delegates presented an official commemorative plaque from Universitas Almuslim to the host institution, The University of Aizu. The plaque was handed over directly by the students and accepted by the conference committee as a symbol of friendship, appreciation, and a shared hope for future cross-border academic cooperation.
The three students expressed their gratitude and pride in this invaluable experience.
“This has been an extraordinary opportunity that has broadened my perspective on the importance of economic development and public budget accountability,” said Amelia.
Devi stated, “Presenting before international academics has boosted my confidence and encouraged me to keep learning and speaking in global forums.”
Meanwhile, Nisa added, “I feel deeply honoured to represent Universitas Almuslim and Aceh on the world stage. This marks the beginning of a much greater journey.”
Dean of FISIP Umuslim, Jamaluddin, SE, M.Si, CAFP, who served as their academic supervisor, expressed his deep appreciation for their achievement.
“This accomplishment demonstrates that Umuslim students possess both capability and competitiveness at the global level. They have brought honour to our institution, highlighted Aceh’s potential, and reinforced the role of Indonesian higher education in scientific diplomacy,” he remarked.
The Rector of Universitas Almuslim, Dr Marwan, M.Pd, also extended his highest praise for the students’ success at the international forum.
“We are immensely proud of this achievement. It proves that Umuslim students are able to stand on the global stage and bring prestige to Indonesia through high-quality and visionary academic contributions,” he affirmed.
This participation is part of FISIP Umuslim’s ongoing commitment to encouraging active student involvement in international academic platforms, expanding global networks, and demonstrating that students from regional backgrounds can indeed play a vital role in the global academic arena.
This outstanding achievement is expected to serve as an inspiration for the youth of Aceh and Indonesia to continue contributing through research and innovation, in the pursuit of better governance, a stronger economy, and a brighter future for the nation.
