Society is increasingly alarmed by the rise in juvenile delinquency, particularly the growing prevalence of robberies that are causing widespread distress on the streets. This misbehaviour, coupled with the erosion of respect for parents and teachers, raises an urgent question: Where is the next generation of this nation heading? In this context, Relawan Peduli Rakyat Lintas Batas offers its full support for the proposal to implement military-style discipline for troubled youth, as has been successfully practised in China.
We also commend the decisive actions taken by the Governor of West Java, H. Dedi Mulyadi SH, in his efforts to shape the character of young people in his region. This initiative is not only aimed at curbing juvenile delinquency but also at restoring responsibility, discipline, and a sense of nationalism that have been steadily eroding.
The Chairman of Relawan Peduli Rakyat Lintas Batas, Arizal Mahdi, emphasised that military-style discipline is not a form of violence, but rather a robust and educational approach. “We are witnessing many young people being led astray by negative peer influences, indulging in drugs, and even engaging in robberies, which are increasingly unsettling our society. It is imperative that we take concrete action and educate them in a way that helps develop strong, honest, and responsible individuals,” he stated passionately.
Arizal also addressed the criticism from the National Commission on Human Rights (Komnas HAM) with firm conviction. “We believe there is no need for criticism of the firm steps taken by Governor Dedi Mulyadi. This is a noble effort to secure the nation’s future by educating the younger generation with discipline that is rooted in care, not in violence. The military-style education implemented in China has proven effective in shaping the character of their youth, and we are confident that this approach can also succeed in Indonesia.”
Relawan Peduli Rakyat Lintas Batas fully supports Governor Dedi Mulyadi’s decisive measures. “This is a responsible step for the future generation. We need more leaders like him, who have the courage to face challenges and protect the future of our nation with sincerity and dedication,” Arizal concluded.
Relawan Peduli Rakyat Lintas Batas calls on all sectors of society to unite in supporting policies that educate and discipline for the benefit of future generations in Indonesia. “Let us come together to shape the future of this nation by educating the youth who will go on to build a stronger, better Indonesia.”
