A remarkable achievement has once again been recorded by Universitas Almuslim. The debate team from Umuslim Debating Society (UDS) secured second place in the prestigious National Debate Competition, a major segment of the 8th Edition of the Student Scientific and Creativity Week (PIKM VIII 2025). The event was held in person at Universitas Malikussaleh, Lhokseumawe, and brought together top-tier universities from across Indonesia.
Carrying the theme “Enhancing Creativity and Critical-Argumentative Thinking among Students,” the competition took place on 6 March 2025 at the Karpatio-Boka Indah Hall, Universitas Malikussaleh. The event served as a platform for students nationwide to exchange ideas and demonstrate their argumentation skills.
The UDS team from Universitas Almuslim consisted of three outstanding students: Muhammad Sejahtera (Public Administration), and Putri Mulyana (International Relations) from the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP), along with Chairani (Primary School Teacher Education) from the Faculty of Teacher Training and Education (FKIP). The team displayed critical thinking, cohesive teamwork, and persuasive argumentation that led them to the final round.
Dean of FISIP Universitas Almuslim, Mr Jamaluddin, S.E., M.Si., Ak., CA, expressed his pride and appreciation for the students’ accomplishments.
“We are extremely proud of the achievements of the UDS debate team. This is clear evidence that students of FISIP Universitas Almuslim possess strong intellectual capacity and are capable of competing at the national level. We will continue to provide full support in terms of facilities and coaching so that more students may achieve similar success,” said Mr Jamaluddin.
Meanwhile, Muhammad Sejahtera expressed gratitude for the support received from the university.
“We are truly grateful for this achievement. The support from the university, especially from the Dean of FISIP and all our academic mentors, has meant a great deal to us. This success motivates us to continue developing our skills and contributing positively to the university,” Muhammad remarked.
Echoing the sentiment, Putri Mulyana hoped their achievement would serve as inspiration for other students.
“This victory proves that with hard work, dedication, and the right support, great results can be achieved. We hope this success encourages fellow students to be more active in both academic and extracurricular activities,” said Putri.
This accomplishment further solidifies Universitas Almuslim’s reputation as an institution committed to producing critical, competitive, and high-integrity youth at the national level.
